Held annually in January, Festival in the Desert is a
unique musical event. Staged approximately two hours from
Timbuktu inMali, on the edge of the Sahara desert, the event is
rooted in the rich Tuareg culture.

Attendees experience traditional customs and the arts as Tuaregs
gather from surrounding areas to trade their wares, play
games,race camels, and display their poetic and dancing skills.

Renowned artists, such as Jimmy Buffet, Led Zeppelin, Toumani
Diabate, Sekouba Bambino, and the late great Ali Farka Toure
have graced the stage at Festival in the Desert.
